  • Lion & fish motif chair

    • $999.99

This chair measures 36 3/4″ tall (93 cm) x 21″ wide (53 cm) x 17 1/2″ seat height (44.5 cm) x 11 3/4″ seat depth (30 cm). All 4 lions represented on this chair are the symbol of a former ahosu (king) of the Fon people, Glele. Rare, if not unique in Africa, the Fon have a strong sense of their royal heritage, not unlike the British. They know their royal lineage. Each king has his own exclusive symbol, immediately identifiable to all Fon people. Glele was the ahosu from 1858 to 1889.
