item #230Ivory Coast - Baule 11 1/2" overall mounted height; the mask is 9 1/2" tall. Circa 1840. This mask was authenticated by the late, renowned African art authority, Roy Sieber, just 5 months prior to his death in 2001. Although Dr. Sieber confirmed its authenticity he did not verify its age. My supplier in Africa claimed it was this old but Dr. Sieber believes it is probably 100 years newer. |
