Photography has always been an important part of my enjoyment of my experience in Africa. I photograph as many of the objects I purchase as I can, primarily for sales purposes. My photos of the places help me communicate the context in which I find the objects I buy to all those who have not been fortunate enough to travel to Africa themselves. But the most meaningful purpose that my photography serves is to bring me closer to the African people whom I love so much. Here are some examples of the photos I have taken. I do not sell my photos. This Koranic school board, referred to in Burkina Faso as a "walaja", was painted by a marabout, an Islamic religious leader.
