$500.00 Beauty salon signs
item #326Togo - Abron Beauty salon signs, as well as barbershop signs are common throughout Africa. Although they may exist everywhere they have reached their highest point of artistic expression in Togo, in my opinion. These 2 signs are exemplary of that tradition. This sign is hinged at the top and so has another side which you can see by clicking of the photo to the left. When you do click on this image you will also see another sign which measures 28 x 24". We bought this sign on the street where some women maintained their salon. It also was hinged at the top back to back in sandwich sign form together with another similar one which has been sold. Each of the two Happiness Tresse signs is $500. The third sign here is $400. | $200.00 Black & White Advertising Portraits
item #413Ghana - Abron As a means to demonstrate the range of their abilities artists display portraits in black & white as well. Whereas most such portraits are painted traditionally on wood, more and more artists are opting for canvas. All 3 of these portraits are painted on canvas and are still stretched on their original wooden frames on which they were painted. We can ship them to you on the frame or taken off, rolled up. This one is of Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana. This measures 34 3/4 x 38 1/2". Please click on this image to see 2 other such portraits, one of Bernice Johnson Reagon, the American composer and civil rights activist, measuring 37 1/2 x 29", $200, and another of an unidentified African woman, 23 x 28", $175. |
