The Niger Bend

I have been both customer and advisor to David Spetka of The Niger Bend since the 1990s.  As an academic (now emerita) with over 40 years of teaching University-level African art history primarily to studio people, I have found it very useful when teaching the traditional arts of tribal  societies to bring genuine objects into the lecture room where applicable to supplement lectures and slides.  The Niger Bend has always maintained an extraordinary selection of genuine, high-quality things from the Akan peoples of both Ghana (the Asante and Fante), and of the Ivory Coast (notably the Baule and the Lagoons Akan peoples).  I know that I can, and have bought  things from The Niger Bend for my own collection with confidence.  Martha J.
